Man Remanded For Allegedly Stealing Catfish Worth N1 million

The accused person who was charged with theft pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court has arraigned a 27-year-old man, Seun Fisayo for allegedly stealing catfish valued at N1 million.

The accused person committed the offence on December 9, around 2:20 pm at No 9, Irepodun Mokuro Line 3 in Ile-Ife.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person stole 350 catfishes, worth N1 million, the property of Mr Feyemi Nicholas.

The offence committed contravened the provisions of Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person who was charged with theft pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

The defense counsel, M.A Adeyemi prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising not to jump bail if granted.

In his ruling, Magistrate Olusola Aluko denied the bail application and remanded the accused person at the Ile-Ife Correctional centre.

He directed the defense counsel to file a written bail application for consideration.

The case was adjourned till January 27 pending bail application
