It was learnt that Remos had purchased the guns from Uba in Uba-Askira Local Government Area of Borno State for sale in a community in Adamawa State.
According to a report by SaharaReporters, a suspected illegal dealer in firearms was on Friday arrested in Adamawa State by the police.
The 23-year old suspect known as Shenomano Remos, was apprehended while allegedly moving locally fabricated guns to Sheno-Belta Village in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
SaharaReporters learnt that Remos had purchased the guns from Uba in Uba-Askira Local Government Area of Borno State for sale in a community in Adamawa State.
The police confirmed that six locally fabricated guns were recovered from him.
Spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said, "Further to the command's reinvigorated special action plan on the ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state, the command's operatives attached to Gombi Division in a joint operation with hunters on 10/12/2021 while on stop and search operation along Ngada-Gombi Road intercepted and apprehended one Shenomano Remos, 23 years old, a resident of Sheno-Belta Village, Gombi Local Government Area.
"The suspect, being a notorious gun dealer, bought and smuggled in the weapons from Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State and was on his way to distribute same to his collaborators.
"The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde, noted that stop and search operation is a good initiative and will critically evaluate the pattern and trend of crimes in the state.
"He assured of massive and well-planned deployment of both human and other operational assets of the command to reinforce and consolidate on keeping Adamawa safe especially during the festive period."
