The state government has taken up the matter by asking the appropriate government institution to investigate the case.

The Nigerian police and the Department of State Security Service (DSS) have been petitioned by the Benue State government over the alleged s3xual molestation of some female students in a federal government-owned institution in the state.

Female students of Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Otukpo, in Benue State were reported to have been r*ped by a staff member of the school. The staff was accused of r*ping a 16-year-old female SSS 3 student and there are rumours other female students being subjected to same.

While it was alleged that the suspected r*pist has been suspended, human right activist, Julie Ooja told Daily Trust that she tried to take the case up but the school authority claimed it was being handled administratively.

Ooja said;

“Our hands were tied; we couldn’t do much because the ministry refrained us and the parents didn’t give us a lee way to match it on.”

The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Mike Gusa however announced in a press conference in Makurdi, that the state government has taken up the matter by asking the appropriate government institution to investigate the case.

Gusa said;

“We have written a letter of complaint to the police and the Director of SSS in the state to carry out a discreet investigation into the matter and verify the veracity of the case.’’
