In an industry filled with controversies, the actor also noted that he consciously avoids drama.
Olatayo Amokade, the Nigerian actor who is popularly known as Ijebu, has said that before he found fame as an actor, he faced a lot of rejections and worked as a generator repairer.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said, “I actually started my career as a generator repairer. I faced a lot of rejections but they only made me stronger and led me to where I am today.
“Before joining Nollywood, I was a very determined person. I always made good use of all the opportunities that came my way.”
In an industry filled with controversies, the actor noted that he consciously avoids drama. He said, “The question is, can one really avoid controversy? Even if one tries hard to stay away, it would somehow navigate to one. That is one big disadvantage of social media. I just always try my best to distance myself from any drama.”
When asked if he could reject any movie role, he said, “As an actor, I would project any role given to me to the best of my ability, even if it is x-rated.”
Though some are of the opinion that the acting profession is not as lucrative as it seems, Ijebu said, “If one loves what one does and it’s one’s passion, one would not have a problem with that. There are good days and bad days, it is the passion one has that would keep one going. It happens in all sectors, not just Nollywood, and some are even worse.”
