Some persons who are suspected to be Fulani militias, in the early hours of Friday, invaded Abuyab village in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed about 10 persons, according to Daily Post.

It will be recalled that many houses were razed down by suspected Fulani militias this year including the house of the former Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group, ECOMOG, Commander, Major General Shekari Billyok (rtd).

A source who sought anonymity said that after many attempts by the attackers to destroy the village, they came and caught the villagers unaware.

According to him, “It has not been easy for us in the village that we are always on the alert every night but to be honest, the attackers came and before we could do anything, they had killed many and destroyed all the remaining houses left standing. As l am talking to you, there is no house in the entire village that is not burned down.”

He added that the security men could not withstand the large number of the attackers who stormed the village to carry out their illicit activities.

The source further explained that presently the village is calm as those left are recounting their losses.

Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige, proved abortive as he did not pick calls made to his phone.
