According to a report by The PUNCH, a clash between the members of the Civil Society Organisation and the members of the local vigilante was averted on Wednesday at Ring Road, Benin venue of the first anniversary of the #EndSARS protest, which rocked the country last year.
Security operatives comprising the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Edo State Security Network (local vigilante), as early as 7:30 am occupied the Benin Museum Park venue meant for the one year EndSARS memorial in Benin, Edo State.
Despite the heavy security presence, trouble started when one of the CSO members was about to drive into the Museum Park but was stopped by one of the local vigilantes who closed the gate and requested the occupants to come down from the vehicle.
This angered the CSO member who came down from the vehicle and was almost exchanging blows with the local vigilante man.
Apart from this, the atmosphere was peaceful as the combined security operatives were strategically positioned at major routes that lead to the park.
