According to a report by The PUNCH, the men of the Osun State Police Command and members of the Hunters Group of Nigeria have arrested three teenagers suspected to be members of an all-female robbery gang in Osogbo, the state capital.
Sources in Aresa community told PUNCH Metro that the suspects robbed a resident of an undisclosed sum of money after they burgled her apartment in the early hours of Monday.
A resident, Akeem Busari, explained that the gang entered into the house of their victim, said to be an aged woman, through the window, and stole the money she realised from a party she hosted the previous day.
He said one of the gang members was intercepted by some hunters around 4am after the group shared the money stolen from the woman.
Busari said, “The one that was first arrested by the hunters is about 14-year-old and she was trying to escape from Aresa community after they burgled a house and shared the money stolen.
“At daybreak, police operatives were informed and they came to where hunters had kept the suspect and they interrogated her. From her confession, other two suspects were identified.
“The police and hunters then embarked on a joint raid and the two other suspects were arrested. One of the suspects was arrested at her husband’s house around the Olugun area; she is about 16 years old. The last suspect, also a teenager, was picked up in the Sasa area of Osogbo.”
The Chairman, Hunters Group of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, Ahmed Nureen, confirmed that his men joined policemen to apprehend three female suspects but declined further comment.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, also confirmed the arrest.
She said, “They have been handed over to the anti-cultism unit for further investigation.”
