Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has reached a new milestone for the country.

This comes after he made 101 international caps in the team’s 2-0 victory over Central African Republic on Sunday.

The feat see him surpass former captains Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama who are both on 100 caps for Nigeria.

FIFA confirmed Musa’s new status as Nigeria’s most-capped player in a post on Instagram on Sunday.

FIFA shared Musa’s picture with the caption, “Ahmed Musa, most capped Nigerian player, 101 appearances”.

FIFA’s post puts to an end the controversy over the number of caps won by Musa.

Musa made his debut for Nigeria against Madagascar in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 5, 2010, coming in as a 75th minute substitute for Mikel Obi. The Eagles won the game 2–0.

He is the fastest player of the three centurions to attain 100 caps, achieving the feat in 4050 days.
