Tragedy as Bandits Kill Six, Injure Others in Sokoto

It was gathered that the suspected bandits were running away from the ongoing military operation in Zamfara State

 
Notorious bandits have attacked the Tureta local government area of Sokoto State killing six and injuring many people.
 
It was gathered that the suspected bandits were running away from the ongoing military operation in Zamfara State 
 
Tureta local government area shares border with Zamfara State where the military operation is ongoing.
 
Many of the injured are now receiving treatment in the hospital.
 
Besides the invasion of the bandits in the area, it is also experiencing current shutdown of telecommunication network in the neighbouring state.
 
According to the source, the bandits stormed the area around 2am early Thursday morning.
 
The source explained that the attackers called for Muslim’s prayers to deceive the members of the community to draw the people’s attention to them.
 
According to the source, “The residents started coming out, thinking it was a time for a dawn prayer and the bandits started shooting at them.”
 
The area is shocked with the killing and abduction of the people while some residents of the area have started relocating to other places according to the source
 
Alhaji Maniru Dan’iya, the deputy governor of Sokoto state visited the area and assured them of the government’s commitment to end banditry in the state.
 
The deputy governor also assured that the state government would pay all the bills of the injured persons.
