Amotekun also arrested the man identified as Akorede Lawal for allegedly hypnotizing the teenager.

A Lagos teenager has been rescued after finding himself in Ondo state.

It was gathered that the teenager was hypnotized by a herbalist before he was rescued by the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps, on Saturday.

Amotekun also arrested the man identified as Akorede Lawal for allegedly kidnapping a teenager, Segun Thomas, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 65-year-old man asked for the assistance of the teenager, who was an apprentice at an automobile workshop.

Punch learnt that Thomas allegedly lost consciousness and followed Lawal to Ore, in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said operatives of the corps, who were attached to a motor park in Ore, arrested the suspect.

He said, “Men of our intelligence unit posted around motor parks in Ore noticed some funny behaviour between the young man and the suspect. On interrogation, they found out that the boy did not know how he got to Ore. As far as the boy was concerned, he thought he was in Lagos.

“On interrogation, we also realised that he had debriefed the boy and found out his father lives abroad and asked the boy to call his father to send him money while being hypnotised. The boy was brought to our headquarters and we got a clue that his mother lives in Lagos and placed a call to her.”

The 18-year-old victim, while narrating his ordeal, stated that he left home for his place of work close to his house on Saturday, when he met the suspect.

Thomas said, “He said I should help him to carry his bag that it was too heavy for him. I took the bag from him, hoping he would soon get a vehicle that would take him to his destination. But I just found myself following him and obeying his instructions. He asked me about my parents and some other questions and I answered all the questions he asked.

“He asked me to put a call to my father who is living abroad to request money. I did. We entered a vehicle going to Ore at Ojota. When we got to Ore, the driver asked me to pay my transport fare and the man collected the load from me. That was when I regained my memory and realised that I was already in Ondo State.”

The teenager noted that how he got to Ore led to an argument between him and the suspect at the park, as operatives of the Amotekun corps intervened in the argument and rescued him.

However, Lawal, who said he was a former herbalist, noted that he innocently asked the boy to help him carry his bag but the boy embarked on the journey to Ore himself.

The Amotekun boss said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
