During the raid at some popular clubs in Akure by men of the Amotekun Corps, no fewer than 40 vehicles were impounded.

Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Operation Amotekun has raided some nightclubs following the directive by the Ondo State Government that nightclubs and bars should stop operating beyond midnight in the state to reduce the worsening insecurity in the state.

During the raid at some popular clubs in Akure by men of the Amotekun Corps, no fewer than 40 vehicles were impounded.

The late-night clubbers were said to have been caught around 2:00am.

In a bid to curb insecurity in the state, particularly, cult-related activities, the state government had last week issued a directive banning nightclubs and beer parlour joints from operating beyond midnight.

Speaking on the development, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, stated that despite the warning and directive, some owners of various nightclubs and beer parlour joints have continued to flout the order.

While disclosing that Amotekun will not hesitate to deal with anyone caught going against the government’s directive, Dojumo said, the corps will not relent at enforcing the directive.

“I don’t know why people cannot obey simple instructions. What should a responsible man or woman be doing late night till 2am?

“Amotekun has been mandated to arrest anyone found in any clubhouse or beer parlour joint beyond the stipulated time.”
