Lagos residents, traders and shop owners woke up this morning to witness yet another massive demolition at the popular Oshodi market in one of Africa's most commercial city.
Online reports revealed that the Lagos State Government, yesterday shut down the market within the notorious loop of Oshodi, aimed at addressing the security challenges in the axis.
Steve Ayorinde, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who disclosed this development yesterday, lamented that the market, has constituted a menace and an eyesore within the locality.
He also noted that the affected traders and shop owners are to be relocated to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade area in Oshodi.
According to our correspondent, Ifeanyi Nwakaudu who sent the photos, the market area will be transformed into an ultra modern bus terminus with new bus shelters that are befitting of a structured park in a mega city.
He also disclosed that the Police were apprehending people taking pictures as traders where not allowed to go close to get out their goods from the market being demolished.
As at the time of this report, it was not ascertained if an earlier notification were given to the affected traders whose goods and shops were demolished.
