The nine masked robbers came in three Hilux vans and shot intermittently into the air before looting the supermarket.
A popular supermarket was invaded by masked gunmen, carting away about 40 bags of rice, cartons of noodles, soft drinks and other expensive items worth millions of naira.
The incident happened on Monday evening in the Ogui New Layout area of the city.
Eyewitnesses told Nation correspondent that the nine masked robbers came in three Hilux vans and shot intermittently into the air before looting the supermarket.
The gunshots scared away passersby as the robbers looted the facility.
It was learned that the robbers had a field day as policemen were nowhere in sight, even though a police station is only a short distance away.
Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe said he was yet to verify the incident.
