Roof Blown Off As International Conference Centre Building In Owerri Collapses

The building built by the past administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha had its roof blown off while the ceiling inside the building pulled down.

According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune, the magnificent International Conference Centre (ICC), a building located at the Hospital junction which is the heart of the capital city of Owerri, has collapsed.

Though the pallets holding the building still stand, all the major parts of the roof were shattered.

As at the time our correspondent visited the place which is few metres away from the seat of power Government House Owerri, the place has been deserted by people, including the security personnel, who used to be there for security purposes.

Before now, during the administration of the former Governor Okorocha, the building had undergone series of renovation since after it was completed.

The front view of the building had one time being blown off by heavy storm which made the then government embark on its renovation.

The present administration of Governor Hope Uzodima had on the assumption, used the building once for the keeping of COVID-19 pandemic relief materials that were shared to Local Government Areas.
