Umar Danladi, the chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau has been accused of nepotism and incompetence over statement he issued defending assault.

Umar Danladi

Nigerians have lashed out at Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau over an offensive statement he released defending his assault on a security guard in Abuja.

In the statement, Danladi said he was approached in a rude manner by the 'Biafran boy' which made him react the way he did.

The statement filled with grammatical errors called into question the qualification of Ibraheem Al-Hassan, Head, Press & Public Relations who released the statement on behalf of Umar and how he got to such an elevated position with his poor grammar.

Nigerians while reacting accused Umar of nepotism and incompetence.

Press Statement from the Code of Conduct Bureau

“Our attention was drawn on a report from some online publication with a video cliff suggesting Hon Chairman, Justice Danladi Y. Umar assaulted a Security Guard at Banex Plaza.

To start with, the said plaza has been his usual place of visits for the past 18 years for shopping and repairs of his phones, and in all these periods there have never been any time he had any turmoil with anybody.

Unfortunately, yesterday’s altercations started over a packing lot, which Chairman met vacant and it was directly opposite a shop he want to make a purchase and to fixe his phone, when the young Security guard sighted him, he ordered that Chairman should not pack his car in that particular empty space, but Chairman asked why, the security guard couldn’t convinced chairman, though Chairman didn’t identify himself, because to him is needless and is a place he visited often, but the boy was rode in his approached and threaten to deal with Chairman if he refuse to leave the scene.

Again, if Chairman had went there to cause trouble or intimidate some one, as suggested in the report, he would have gone there in his full official paraphernalia, but he went there alone with his younger brother.

The Police men seen in the video cliff were not the Chairman’s police team, they were policemen operating around the plaza whom at first instance intervened before the arrival of police team from Maitama Police station. As the few policemen in the complex were apparently overwhelmed by the mobs, consisting of BIAFRAN boys throwing matches and shape object to his car, which led to deep cut and dislocation in one of his finger, causing damage to his car, smashing his windscreen.

At a point he attempted to leave the scene, these same miscreants, BIAFRAN boy ordered for the closure of the gate thereby assaulting him before the arrival of police team from Maitama police station.

An incident like this when it happened, sympathy usually goes to the low personalities. Though is unfortunate as I said, it ought not to have happened.”

This statement is so scandalously unprofessional, unpardonably infantile and profoundly shameful.

If Mr. Danladi Umar read and approved this statement before it was released to the public, one could comfortably question his qualifications as a lawyer, the soundness of his reasoning as a judge, his mentality as NIGERIAN public servant and his maturity as an adult human.

The mere fact that he already sees some Nigerians as non-Nigerians is too dangerous to ingnore for a man who is supposed to be FAIR and JUST in treating cases as Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal. I strongly recommend that National Judicial Council (NJC) should review Mr. Danladi's poor professional conduct and take action immediately.

SarkinYarki:
This statement is even a worse disaster than the the assault , it woulda been better if he had kept quiet ...just look at the poorly lettered statement filled with grammatical blunder and to make matters worse they try to play the tribal card to gain support by bringing in Biafra cheesy

PlayerMeji:
Shameful indeed...

When you have to mention Biafran boys... I immediately stopped reading the whole story.

Biafran boys? No longer Igbo boys but Biafra...

So that was how the narrative was to you... Biafran boys attacked the CCT Chairman in his country..

Freestainworld:
The man is not only a fool, but a big bastard, a tribal bigot who is unfortunately in a position he should not have been occupying due to his low mentality, like seriously? Biafran boy, not Igbo boy, imagine what this devil will do to another tribe man if they are presented to him for a scrutiny in the law Court

PlayerMeji:
Mark my words, there is going to be a tribal reprisal on this that happened very soon

SarkinYarki:
He knows what he is doing , he has turned it to tribal spat so he can win support of his fellow northerners

Augla1:
Hmm, it is well with this country if beasts

fitzmayowa:
This is one of the most unprofessional statement have read in a while, PR unit should be fired.

I'm guessing this suppose to be their defence....

ZKOSOSO:
Shameful.....
Even my gate man speaks and write better English language than this products of Buhari nepotism.

CuteMaro
Shame !

Well I am not really surprised. Reminds me of my NYSC days back in the North. My boss used to say Nigeria will never get better, honestly I never imagined it would get this worse so soon.

Imagine the statement from a supposed public servant. There’s really no redemption for this country called Nigeria if at the slightest provocation we are quick to pull the Tribal card.

In the end we all deserve the leaders we get. We have the most unserious set of populace where every youth would rather turn a comedian on whatsapp status and Instagram stories rather than question the authority in government and demand good governance.

What a shameful, unprofessional and error ridden statement from his PR ! What a time to be a Nigerian ! A country with no direction, A country with no vision for the youths ( Where almost 100 youths are arrested daily for cyber crimes from almost all regions and it is not a matter of national discourse to at-least address the underlying cause) ! A country where life means nothing anymore as people get killed in their numbers daily and everybody gets along like it’s normal ! ( Even the security chiefs gets to shamelessly keep their jobs knowing they owe nobody any explanations )

And this is the country we are expected to raise our unborn kids ! As a Nigerian we all should be ashamed and we owe our unborn kids an apology for not demanding good governance no matter what it may take !

From my primary school,I know that when you want to appoint class captain or monitor or prefect, they usually go for the above average students but in Nigeria political space, it's the olodos that are ruling over intelligent people.

Idiko1:
At least, the so-called Biafran boys showed him there is a manner in which to conduct oneself in the public. Biafra has been good after all.

Naughtysex:
It is finished for Nigeria

royalamour:
grin

This is what you get when nepotism is applied in the selection process.
And you wonder why things are this bad in the country?

Many of them are stark illiterates in top positions.

They believe that they must occupy top position even if they are qualified or not.

It will never be well with Frederic Lugard.

That is why I don't blame secessionists.
