Some armed herdsmen have stormed a community in Taraba state attacking and injuring farmers.

Armed herdsmen have attacked a community in Taraba state.
 
According to Punch, at least two farmers were reportedly injured on Tuesday by the herdsmen who invaded a farm in Kakhi village, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
 
A source, Hikon Samuel, told Punch that the herders attacked the farmers when they attempt to drive the cows out of their farm.
 
Confirming the attack, the Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Daniel Adi, told The PUNCH in a telephone interview that two farmers were severely injured by herdsmen in the attack.
 
According to him, the incident happened when herdsmen invaded a farmland and started eating up the crops and in attempt to drive the cows out of the farm, the herdsmen brought out cutlasses and cut two of the farmers.
 
Adi noted that the injured farmers were rushed to Wukari General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
 
“On getting the report, I quickly mobilised security men and went to the area and two of the attackers were arrested.

“I want to appeal to the people of Wukari to hold their peace and allow security personnel to do their work,” he said.
 
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Reform Leha, could not be reached for comment as his phone line was switched off as of the time of filing this report.
