BREAKING: Attahiru Resumes As New Chief Of Army Staff

During the ceremony at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Buratai urged military officers to cooperate with Attahiru.

It has been reported that Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has resumed office as the new Chief of Army Staff.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai handed over to Attahiru on Thursday.

During the ceremony at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Buratai urged military officers to cooperate with Attahiru.

"Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru has officially resumed as the new Chief of Army Staff, today. The new Army Chief succeeds Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, who retired from service earlier this week." Bashir Ahmed tweeted


The PUNCH reports that Buhari, on Tuesday, removed service chiefs and appointed a new set of officers to replace them.

Those newly appointed are Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General I. Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air-Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao.

Findings by The PUNCH showed that Attahiru, who was elevated to the position of Chief of Army Staff by the President, was in 2017 removed as the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole for failing to stop Boko Haram in 2017.
