Two Men Hired For Hostel Renovation In UNICAL Nabbed After Stealing Students' Belongings

The suspects were arrested on Friday, during a stop-and-search of all vehicles entering the campus and those going out.

Two suspected thieves who stole electrical appliances including pressing irons and lamp holders at the University of Calabar students hostel have been nabbed by Security operatives attached to the hostel.

The suspects were arrested on Friday, during a stop-and-search of all vehicles entering the campus and those going out.

The stop-and-search was part of the measure put in place by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, to safeguard students and staff on campus including the critical infrastructure.

It was gathered that the two men were among workers hired for the ongoing renovation work in the hostel.

The duo confessed that they stole the items from the hostel after close of work. They have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
