Many people have been left injured while some residents fled after a gas plant went up in flames in a community in Rives state.
The explosion occurred in Rumuodomaya community, Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday night, Te PUNCH reports.
The explosion occurred about 8:45 pm with a loud sound which caused panic among residents of the area with some fleeing their homes in fear.
The cause of the explosion could not be immediately ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
The PUNCH reports that this came barely three weeks after a gas leak at a facility operated by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) in Elibrada, Emuoha Local Government Area of the state.
