A Nigerian lady who cried out after her transcript was held by Covenant University has finally gotten a response.
Covenant University
After being called out on social media for withholding the transcript of a lady, Angela Chaja who graduated from the school, Covenant University has released an official response.
The President of the alumni association has addressed the issue.
Here is an Update on Complaints Video
During the early hours of yesterday, 15 December 2020, the urgent attention of our community was brought to a complaint video recorded by an Eagle referencing delays by Covenant University (CU) In processing her transcript request despite her making payments twice for processing since July 2020. The video has since become viral on various social media platforms.
We all know the danger of only listening to one side of the story. So we, the Executive Council, would like to use this opportunity to state the facts, reiterate our support for all Eagles globally and more importantly, inform everyone on the right channels for requests and issue resolution.
The Alumni Secretariat operates a transcript facilitation service (among other services) for Eagles, aimed at ensuring quicker turnaround time and convenience for our community. We (the Alumni Secretariat) received an initial transcript request and payment from the Eagle in question (applicantâ–º on 10th September 2020 and the transcript was physically delivered to the receiving organization on 25th September 2020.
On 26th October 2020, we received a follow-on request from the applicant, and she was advised on 27th October 2020 on the documents required to fulfil that request. On 9th November 2020, the applicant made a separate payment for these other documents (Certified True Copy of her certificate and an attestation letter).
Due to some information mismatch on the form sent, the request could not be processed until an updated form was obtained from the requesting organization. We received this updated form from the applicant on 2nd December 2020 and a scanned copy of the processed form was sent to her on 9th December 2020, with a promise to dispatch all the documents on 14th December 2020.
The documents were dispatched on 14th December 2020, the applicant was informed and she acknowledged with thanks. It was therefore very surprising that we woke up to a video of the applicant accusing Covenant University of refusing to release a transcript since July.
Covenant University Alumni Association (COMA) would like to remind our community of our commitment to ensuring our support services and initiatives are rendered with excellence In facilitating the attainment of each Eagle's dreams. Asides digitizing our services for efficient processing, the Secretariat also works very closely with the relevant University departments to ensure better service delivery.
Please note that neither Covenant University nor the Alumni Secretariat will demand double payment for a service. We encourage you to use only official channels for your requests, so you do not fall prey to ill-intentioned people. We remain committed to serving all members of our community and empowering them to soar. We also remain committed to upholding the reputation of the University by being worthy ambassadors and flag-bearers.
