There is tension among workers at the Ogun State Ministry of Health as they fear the deadly coronavirus pandemic might spread among them, Daily Post reports.

This is as the man driving the Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Report has it on Tuesday that the driver has been moved to one of the isolation centres for treatment, at the beehest of the commissioner.

Efforts by Daily Post to hear from the state government was unsuccessful as several calls made to Coker’s phone were not answered, neither did he reply a text message sent to her on Wednesday morning.

Also, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Communications, Hon. Remmy Hazzan, did not pick calls to his two lines.

Speaking with our correspondent on phone, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, said “I am not aware.”

However, our correspondent gathered that Coker has ordered pressmen attached to her, as well her as staff, to embark on 14 days self-isolation.

It could not be immediately ascertained whether or not the Commissioner has isolated herself too.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Ogun State has recorded seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The state now has 574 confirmed cases, with 305 still receiving treatments in its isolation centres.
