The Department of State Security Services, DSS, has denied reports that it invaded the residence of Taiwo Akerele, the former chief of staff to Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki on Sunday.

It was reported that DSS operatives had arrived the residence at about 5 PM in a bus and 3 other vehicles. They reportedly arrested an aide to Akerele, Jasper Olowojogba and raided the property located at 1st Ugbor road, Benin city.

In a statement sent to this newspaper on Monday, DSS Director in Edo, Sheikh Waziri, said no operative of the service invaded the residence of Akerele on Sunday.

“I have verified and confirmed that the DSS Edo has not invaded the residence nor arrested anyone associated with the former CoS,” Waziri said.
