Supreme Court: INEC Chiefs In Closed Door Meeting To Decide Next Bayelsa Governor

Top officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission are meeting over the ruling of the Supreme Court that ousted David Lyon yesterday.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu and some National Commissioners are currently in a closed door meeting at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.
 
It was gathered that the meeting is geared towards reaching a conclusion following the Supreme Court judgement yesterday that sacked Bayelsa Governor-elect, David Lyon.
 
The officials it is believed are brainstorming in order to reach a conclusion on who becomes the next governor of the state according to the order of the Supreme Court.
 
Recall that the Supreme Court ordered that the next person with the highest number of votes and reach be sworn in as Governor of the state.
 
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voters Education Committee, Festus Okoye on Thursday, said the Commission was studying the judgment.
