Boko Haram terrorists
Boko Haram militants have killed 14 Chadian civilians with 5 wounded after they carried out an overnight attack on a fishermens’ camp in the northeastern part of Lake Chad.
The area which had been plagued by attacks from the sect had the latest attack on a camp of fishermen near the village of Kaiga on Lake Chad.
“The assailants arrived in the night and attacked the fishermen,” official Dimoya Souapebe said. Thirteen people are missing in addition to the 14 killed, he added.
An overnight raid by Boko Haram saw the death of 23 Chadian soldiers in March, which is considered to be one of the deadliest of such attacks inside Chad by the insurgents.
The Chadian soldiers killed in the attack are said to be part of a U.S.-trained West African task force deployed to counter Boko Haram.
More than 30,000 people and forced about 2 million to leave their homes over the violence which has been witness for a decade now.
The Islamic sect have been carrying out regular raids over loosely guarded borders into neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon with an aim to create a caliphate.
