As many as 12 persons are feared dead after a communal clash erupted in Cross River state community.

According to report by Punch Metro, at least 12 persons were allegedly killed early Thursday morning and 18 hospitalised following what was described as ‘communal clash’ between Ebom and Usumutong communities in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State.
It was gathered that the attack started at 5am on Thursday, resulting in the death of many, while several houses were burnt.
An eyewitness alleged that the invaders had moved from house to house, attacking residents.
Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Nkereuwem Akpan, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said he did not have the casualty figure or the number of houses razed.
He also explained that policemen have been deployed to the affected areas.
