Yul Edochie, Nollywood actor and son to Pete Edochie, has given his two cents on people who spend big during burial ceremonies, saying it is a “total waste.”

The movie star took to his social media page to express his reservations about the idea of people going extravagant in the name of burial.

Burial ceremonies in Nigeria and other African countries are often considered big events, due to the significance attached to them.

But the Nollywood actor feels people should rather be celebrated when they are alive.

“I don’t understand the concept of spending so much money on burials. Total waste to me! A person’s life should be celebrated when he or she is alive to join in the celebration, not in death. Some one once asked me for a loan of some millions to use & bury his father. I was speechless,”
the actor wrote on his Twitter page.

This is not the first time the actor would be critical in his comments on societal issues, especially those that beset the country.

Yul had recently taken a swipe at Nigerians who celebrated the country’s 59th independence anniversary, branding them as the nation’s problems.
