According to The Nation, the Sokoto Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday raided Sokoto office of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
The anti -graft agency is said to have cordoned the office leading to the questioning of some principal officers for alleged involvement in financial crime.
A source from the commission who preferred not be mentioned confirmed the operation.
The source said: “There was a raid and the matter is still under investigation.”
When The Nation visited INEC office on Tangaza road, the complex was deserted.
Only scanty staff, who refused to talk to anyone, were around.
It was learnt the raid may not be unconnected with the issue of non payment allowances to ad hoc staff, who participated in the 2019 general elections.
Efforts speak with the PRO of the commission proved abortive.
