A four-year-old boy has died after his older sibling is alleged to have found a gun and shot him while their mother was asleep.
Truth Albright of Fort Worth, Texas, was rushed to Cook Children's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead an hour after the shooting.
Police say the deceased's five-year-old brother found a gun and fired it shortly after noon on Sunday. The type of gun has not yet been revealed.
No one else was hurt according to investigators who conducted interviews to determine whether the shooting was accidental.
A police spokesperson told DailyMail.com that the five-year-old boy's parents would not face punishment on Monday.
'It has been determined that there will be no charges filed at this time. It’s a very unfortunate situation that occurred,' a spokesperson told DailyMail.com.
The home on the 7700 block of Greengage Drive was initially surrounded by police car units at around 3.15pm on Sunday.
Later they blocked the street and cordoned-off the two story house where Albright's family lived by 5.50pm.
One neighbor, Larry Davison, who lives several houses down said he had never spoken to the people that lived in the property.
He claimed to often see two boys playing outside.
Davison said the last time emergency vehicles were on the street was when a house caught fire five-years-ago.
Guns are the second leading cause of death for American children and teenagers, according to nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety.
Nearly 1,700 children and teens are killed by gun homicide every year. For children under the age of 13, these frequently happen in the home.
Black children and teens are 14 times more likely than white children and teens of the same age to die by gun homicide, they wrote.
