Four gunmen in early hours of Monday invaded the residence of a former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Dr Paul Orhi.
According to sources, the four men who were armed with pistols and machetes forced themselves into the house located behind Nigeria Television Authority, Makurdi.
As soon as the gunmen forcefully entered the house, they attempted to attack the security men at the post but were repelled by policemen.
Orhi, who spoke to our correspondent on the phone, confirmed the attack.
“Early this morning, precisely1.05am, four men armed with pistols and machetes came to my residence in Makurdi and went straight to the security posts in an attempt to disarm my security personnel.
“During the ensuing struggle, the policemen started shooting which caused the intruders to run for their lives,” Orhi said.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state command, DSP Catherine Anene, said she had yet to be briefed on the invasion.
