According to a report by Daily Trust, a fire incident at 4 Market Street Tinubu Square on Lagos Island left many shops and warehouses burnt yesterday. It was learnt that the inferno broke out from a three-storey building in the area.

Officers of the state fire service were immediately mobilized to the scene to quell the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining shops.

The ever busy Market Square on the Island yesterday was chaotic as emergency officials including the state Emergency Management Agency made efforts to put out the fire.

Eyewitnesses said the fire incident caused a near stampede scenario among traders and stall owners in the shops to avoid being stuck in the inferno. The emergency agency said no life was lost.
