Indian man with the world's longest fingernails on ONE HAND admits he hasn't cut them since 1952... and plans to donate them to a museum.
A 78-year-old Shridhar Chillal, from India, who has the world's longest fingernails and has been growing the nails on his left hand since he was at school, says he plans to cut them off and preserve them in a museum.
He has now been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the person with the 'Longest Fingernails on a Single Hand Ever' and features in their 2016 edition.
His incredible nails now have a cumulative length of 909.6cm. His thumb nail is the longest at two metres followed by his middle finger at 186.6cm, ring finger at 181.6cm, little finger at 179.1cm and index finger at 164.5cm.
On why he decided to let his nails grow and grow:
When I was a schoolboy, we were once beaten badly by our teacher, because my friend broke his nail. The teacher had grown a very long nail.
We asked him why he had beaten us so much for just breaking his nail. He said that we would not understand as we had never grown long nails. Unless we grew long nails we would never understand the kind of care required not to break them.
On his plans to have his nails cut and have them preserved in a museum:
I have been growing my nails since 1952 so it is now 62 years since I first started to let my nails grow. Now that I am 78 years old, my nails have become much more delicate due to my age, so my wish is to preserve these nails in a museum.
On making it into the new Guinness World Records 2016 Edition:
I had achieved the biggest goal in my life. I can tell everyone now with pride about my record. When I am on my travels, people will recognise me as a Guinness World Records title holder.
