A little girl is said to be really scared of the color red after being forced to watch her mother being stabbed to death.

A young girl is terrified of the colour red after her mum was slaughtered by her butcher boyfriend leaving the traumatised toddler covered in her blood.

The 22-month-old was left “silently staring into space” after twisted Dylan Harries hacked at Katrina Evemy with a five-inch blade - even driving it into her eyes.

The brute, 22, carried out the "murderous rampage" because 19-year-old Katrina had innocently kissed another man.

In a victim impact statement, gran Amanda Simon told how the traumatised youngster now reacts to anything resembling blood.

She said: “My grandaughter screamed for half an hour when she saw red cleaning fluid in the toilets at her playgroup.

“When we show her photographs of her mum she screams 'No, no'.

“I can only think this is due to what she saw.”

She added: "The thought of Katrina lying on the floor with those injuries chills me to this day.

“Katrina will never see her daughter being a bridesmaid, she will miss her first day in school, her birthdays, her wedding and the birth of her first child.”

Harries has been caged for life with a minimum of 27 years for the "cruel and merciless" attack after he was found guilty of murder at Swansea Crown Court.

Jurors heard how Katrina had tried to break up with "possessive and jealous" Harries when he went to her home with the kitchen knife hidden up his sleeve.

He then unleashed a savage knife attack on the young mum in front of her daughter - leaving the pair in a bloodbath for 45 minutes before calling the emergency services.

Katrina spent six days on a life support machine and her mum couldn't even recognise her in hospital because of her horrendous injuries.

Prosecutor Patrick Harrington QC said: "It was like a horror film the family were stuck in".

Monster Harris tried claiming he had shown up at his partner's home on April 13 and discovered her with devastating injuries to her neck, eyes, stomach and back.

But he was snared by DNA and marks from his braces after he bit Katrina in the frenzy.

Sentencing, Mrs Justice Whipple said: "You were there for 45 minutes and attacked Katrina with brutal and sustained violence.

“You did this with her small daughter standing by and watching. This was a cruel and merciless killing.

“The child became covered in her mother’s blood in a murderous rampage.

“By the time paramedics arrived she was pale, silent and staring into space."
