The House of Representatives has concluded voting on 33 major bills to amend several parts of the Nigerian constitution.

House of Representatives

This is how the House of Representatives concluded voting on 33 major bills to amend several parts of the Nigerian constitution.

The House decision on the bills follows the vote by the Senate on them on Wednesday.

During their vote on Thursday, the House of Reps members joined their Senate colleagues to support the #NotTooYoungToRun bill that reduces the age qualification to run for major elective offices.

An aide to Speaker Yakubu Dogara said the speaker helped to rally colleagues to approve that bill.

“This bill is in the interest of the youth which we must empower because if we empower them we are empowering the future generation,” Mr. Dogara was quoted as saying by Turaki Hassan.

Other highlights of Thursdays votes are that the House disagreed with the Senate on come crucial matters such as retaining state independent electoral commissions (which the Senate wants scrapped) and devolution of powers to the states which the Senate rejected.

See the full details of how the House voted on each of the 33 bills, as provided by Mr. Hassan, below:
