Senate President in Trouble as PDP Senators Threaten Revenge After Staging a Walkout Protest on Wednesday

The cordial relationship between Senate President Bukola Saraki and the PDP senators in the National Assembly might have ruptured after today's shocking incident.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Saraki might see the favour he enjoys from Peoples Democratic Party senators diminish following the drama that played out in the Senate on Wednesday after Senator Yela Omogunwa representing Ondo South Senatorial district from the Peoples Democratic Party, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Omogunwa's defection forced PDP senators to walk out of plenary on Wednesday and vowed to take a pound of flesh in the future against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki for refusing to declare the seat of the defected Ondo senator vacant.

This was made clear before newsmen by Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio who alongside his PDP colleagues walked out of the senate. The PDP alleged that the Senator carried out anti-party activities in the just-concluded Ondo gubernatorial election.

“I am pleading with you journalists to tell Mr. Senate President to quickly declare vacant the seat of Omogunwa so that PDP can bring in another Senator.

”You agree with us that the letter was written before Ondo election of his intention to defect which he said he would assist the APC to win,” he said.

Akpabio had said Omogunwa should have been forced to vacate his seat considering that he engaged in anti-party activities by assisting the APC candidate to win election in his state while he was still a Senator on the platform of PDP.
