The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued the Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah as the Governor of Abia State.
We
reported it here a few days ago that at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, Justice Okon Abang, ordered the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu to immediately vacate his office as he was never qualified to run for the party primaries in the People's Democratic party (PDP) as a guber candidate, on the account of fake tax returns
The court judge directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Uche Ogah, the opponent of Okezie Ikpeazu, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary election. The judge also ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in Uche Ogah, as the new governor of the state.
In a Tweet by SaharaReporters and a further announcement on Channels Television, the election ruling body in the country, INEC, has issued the Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah.
INEC’s Director of Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, says this follows an order by the Abuja Federal High Court mandating INEC to immediately issue Certificate of Return to Ogah who came second at the last Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Abia State.
