Until now anyone thinking of buying a new 4x4 car would be unlikely to go for an African brand - largely because there weren't any. However, this is about to change.
Last year, Africa was projected to see sales of new 2 million cars with major auto players such as Toyota, Tata Motors and General Motors looking at the continent for growth opportunities.
Not to be left out of the lucrative market, African entrepreneurs are now entering the automobile industry; designing and developing vehicles specifically geared for the local market and local consumers but with global aspirations.

However, this is about to change with the arrival of the Kantanka range, all designed and manufactured in Ghana, as the local manufacturer joins Nigeria's Anambra State based Innoson Group to roll out their own automobiles.
But, will it be able to take on world famous brands like Toyota, Land Rover and BMW?
